Today we had a lovely Christmas visit from Austria. Yola (Imke vom Belauer See) came with her owners to visit us from Vienna.
We spent a few nice hours just chatting and playing with the dogs, taking some pictures and last but not list grooming Yola. She didn't care in particular about the grooming!
The dogs were playing a lot in the garden. "Aunt Vicky", our Field Spaniel, did not go out to the Photo shooting and "Uncle Clark" wasn't allowed to go either as Ilse is in heat...
Yola has grown into a nice, young girl. She is well behaved and mainly trained in Dummy work. She has also some hunting training and has so far passed one hunting test. In due time the owner will
bring her to more trials.

Today we got a nice Christmas present in the mail - we received the HD result of our "Ilse vom Belauer See": HD A1!

2014 has been a very successful year for our Kennel „vom Belauer See (FCI)“ and our dogs! Two German Youth Champion, two German Champion, one Club Show Youth Winner 2014, one Club Show Winner 2014, one Club Winner and a Danish Winner 2014 has been worth the effort. As a the icing of the cake our Field Spaniel „Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See“ is finally „Spaniel of the year 2014“. 9 titles in one year with only four dogs, is a success which makes us proud. Beside this there were several BOBs, CACIBs and last but not least from our last litter „Imke vom Belauer See“ has been able to pass the hunting test in the Czech Republic.
The ending of my volunteer work for the Club gave me a lot of free time. It is so nice to have again time for my own dogs, my kennel plans and the positive contacts to other breeders and Spaniel friends around the world. It is a lot nicer than to constantly have to deal with the vanity fairs and quarrels of other people. Watching from a distance it is very interesting how some people try to justify their behavior by repeating justifications. Alfred Polgar mentioned already: “People believe a lot easier a lie, which they have heard a hundred times, then a truth, which is completely new to them.”
Almost 40 years ago my Grandmother sent me a Birthday card with a saying, which over the years has reminded me to set things into the right perspective: “The best, what we can do in this world, is doing good, being happy and let the birds sing.” (Don Bosco)! Keep this always in mind.
To this effect I wish all friends a Merry Christmas and may 2015 be a happy and good year!
Yours Ulf F. Baumann

Dierolf from Germany.
At the Special Breed Show Ilse got in Youth Class Excellent 2 and fulfilled with this the requirements for the title "German Youth Champion (Klub)". She got a very nice report by the honorable

But the good news didn't come to an end... Vicky, our Field, went BOB and finally BIS 3!!! What a great end of the Show season of a very successful year for our kennel!
Thanks to the excellent Show Team around Peter Aerts and Christa Bieler! You have all done a great job! We will be back!

Vacation in Sweden - or a Swedish Delicacy
When we got Vicky two years ago from Kennel "Winterbourne" in Sweden we stayed a week at a very cosy summer house. Although it was November it was a very relaxing vacation. This year we decided
again to rent this house at this time of the year. And we had again a very relaxing time as the picture proves.
As you can imagine you come quite close to the dogs and the first evening I was a bit surprised how they smelled. The following evening it was even worse. I had noticed that one spot in the
garden had caught their attention. Should a human have used the garden as toilet? I couldn't believe this? Did they roll themselves in some human...? A close look and sniff didn't prove what I
imagined. But what was it?
Well, the next day after my morning walk I decided to have a closer look at the spot the dogs were drawn to. The dogs were really excited that I had a look at their famous spot! What treasure had they discovered?
Our dogs had found a tin of "Surströmming" which was buried in the garden. Previous guests at the house obviously thought they want to try this Swedish Delicacy and
decided that it is better hidden in the garden! Well, you probably cannot imagine the odor the dogs had although I think not a single fish was missing.
Later we found at the grocery store "Surströmming" for sale - we decided we pass the opportunity!
On our way up North we visited a Special Breed Show of the Spaniel and Retriever Klubben in Astorp and watched the English Springer Spaniels and Field Spaniels.
I had also the opportunity to visit Marica Teir and her family, Kennel "Baucoon". Thanks for the great conversation and the hospitality! It is always nice to meet other dog people!
Over all it was a nice vacation. As always it was too short, but we will be back!

Today I have been to the Vet to get "Ilse vom Belauer See" x-rayed. Now we have to wait for the HD-result...
Lottas "Desperados Charlotta at Belauer See" eyes have been checked. They are again clear; she is also clear of D.L.P. (Gonio). I am very happy about this!
18.10.2014
Today we have been with our small Show Team at the Bundessiegerausstellung in Dortmund, Germany (National Winner Show, biggest Show in Germany).
We showed two English Springer Spaniels and one Field Spaniel.

Jule "Deb's Cortina" got in Open Class also "Excellent 4". Finally our Field Spaniel Vicky "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" got in Open Class "Excellent 1" and CAC-VDH, Res. CAC and Res. CACIB. We had a nice Show day with good people around us. It was nice to meet you all again!
14.10.2014

Now the corn field which has been blocked the view from our garden has been harvested. The dogs enjoy to be able to run again on the fields around the house and it is a lot of fun to play around
with the corn cobs.
05.10.2014
This morning we started really early to the International Show in Zwolle, Netherlands (Hanzeshow). At 03.30 a.m. I met with Claudia Pelka and her Gordon Setter "Joe". 30 minutes before the halls were open we were there.
Under judge Mr. H. Stockmari from Finland Vicky got "Excellent 1", the Dutch CAC, CACIB and was BOB. What a great success!
The Gordon Setter of Claudia "Quiet Little Joe Black-Star of Heathmoor" got the Dutch CAC and CACIB and was BOB! We were both really proud and the long way back home at night was not that bad. We each others company and arrived safely late in the evening.
Our young English Springer girl "Ilse vom Belauer See" was at this day shown at the Special Breed Show of the Spaniel Club Deutschland e.V. in Hamburg. The judge Ms. M. Blaha from Austria awarded her with "Excellent". Thank you, Svenja, for handling Ilse! Very well done! Jule "Deb's Cortina" got in Open Class Excellent 2 and in the finals Reserve CAC.
29.09.2014
Jule and Holly started at VDP Kiel-Mielkendorf in a Rally-Obedience-Competition today under judge Ms. C. Tinnappel. Jule "Deb's Cortina" got with Svenja Arendt 100/100 Points in Beginner Class and a 1.Prize. Out of 27 Teams they were placed 4th. Well done!

Slowly fall is approaching. During our walk today Vicky had spotted some fallow deer. The Springer Spaniels have not recognized them yet and are still behind me...
13.09.2014
This weekend we have been to the International Show in Rostock with our small show Team "Belauer See". The photos have been shot by Sabine Schurig and Hannes Hagge. Thank you!
"Ilse vom Belauer See" got "Excellent" in Youth Class. Very successful were the two other dogs of our team. Jule "Deb's Cortina" won Open Class with "Excellent1", CAC-VDH, CAC and CACIB and was finally BOS! She has fulfilled now all requirements for the title "German Champion (VDH)".
Vicky "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" won with "Excellent 1", CAC-VDH, CAC, CACIB and was BOB. We are very pleased after a wonderful Show day with nice People and good talks.
17.08.2014
Today there were again some really good news. This time on other topics: Dog Sports and Hunting.
Today Jule "Deb's Cortina" has accomplished with Svenja Arendt her first Rally-Obedience-Competition at SGV Heiligenhafen. She started in Beginner Class and got 89 of 100 Points and a 2. prize! And this only after two months of Training with Svenja. Congratulations! Jules best friend "Holly" the Cocker Spaniel started as well and was successful in Class 3. Well done!
We got also another very surprising News today. "Imke vom Belauer See", called Yola, passed in Brünn, Czech Republic, the hunting test with a 3. Prize. Congratulations, well done! I am sure
we will hear more from Yola in future. She loves like her sister Ilse, who lives with us at "vom Belauer See" to retrieve and is very eager to work. Both showed a natural talent
for retrieving at a very young age.
27.07.2014
As always the vacation was over too short. The days at home I spent with long walks in the forest and with Dummy-training. And every day I went for a swim in the lake next to our house. On the last day of my vacation I went to the Club Show of the Spaniel Club Deutschland e.V. (Spaniel Club Germany) to Soltau. The Show weekend of the SCD is certainly the biggest Spaniel event in Germany throughout the year. There were altogether 3 Shows with a high number of entries.
I have only entered my Field Spaniel to the Club Show on Sunday. Vicky was again successful. She won her Class, was BOS and is now Club Winner 2014. A very nice last day of my vacation!
17.06.2014 - 21.06.2014
Five days in Sweden: I travelled with Vicky and Lotta to the Field Specialen 2014 of the Field Klubben. It is the biggest Show of Field Spaniels in Scandinavia and I went there to get an overview on the breed in Sweden. Many Field owners show their dogs at the Field Specialen.
On the way to the Field Specialen I visited Jens Karlsson, breeder of English Springer Spaniels and the Kennel "Art-Waves". We had a really good talk on the Dogs and spent a few nice hours. Thanks, Jens, for your hospitality!
Saturday I have shown "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" at the Field Specialen and on Sunday I showed her at the International Show in Askersund.
I am very pleased that Vicky was both days successful. At the Field Specialen she won her class and was placed second in the finals of all bitches. A really great success keeping in mind how long a Field Spaniel needs to mature. She was competing with a number of bitches which were already Champions and a lot older than Vicky.
There were two groups in the Offspring-competition. I joined with Vicky the Group of her father "Törnskogens Tom Timmerman", who was also best male (BOS) of the Show. This group was placed first before the group of "Winterbourne Deep Blue Sea", a well known Sire in the breed.
The small town Medevi is approximately one hour drive North of Jönköpping. It is the oldest town with a spa in Sweden. Therefore it is also called Medevi Brunn.
In the morning Vicky liked to watch what was going on in the little town. We had booked a room at a hostel. It was pretty basic but the right accomodation with the dogs and directly situated beside the Show ground - just perfect!
A walk through the enchanting small town was worthwhile. Three times a day there were open air concerts. A summer idyll in Sweden!
At the evening after the Field Specialen there was a nice gathering.
Of course there was a lot of dog talk, discussion about the breed and a big Tombola. The number of prizes at the Tombola was impressive! I have never won so many things at a Tombola myself!
I have also enjoyed the beautiful nature of Sweden. Medevi Brunn is situated very close to Lake Vättern and in the evenings I took a walk at the lake.
On Sunday we went to the International Show in Askersund. At this Show also a number of Fields were entered. Obviously it was nice to have two days in a row to show the dogs. Although
there was burning heat Vicky was again very successful. She won her Class with "Excellent 1", got CK and won the Swedish CAC. In the finals she was second best bitch and got Res. CACIB. As
the winner is already C.I.E. she will turned into a full CACIB. I couldn't have been more pleased!
The days were passing very fast and too early we needed to say "Good bye" to Sweden. But we will be back - very soon!
05./06.06.2014
This weekend we have been to the Club Show - Weekend of the Jagdspaniel-Klub in Siegen, Germany. Beside a number of nice people, which we have met again, we were happy to be quite successful at both shows. With lots of presents, a self bred "Club Show Youth Winner" and a "Club Show Winner" we could hit the road back home.
Lotta "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" won both days Champion Class with "Excellent 1" and CAC-VDH.
Our little one "Ilse vom Belauer See" won both days Youth Class with "Excellent 1" and got on Sunday the title "Klubschau-Jugendsiegerin 2014". That is her first title with only 10 months.
On Saturday she was even best dog of all Youth of all Breeds at the Show. A big thank you to the honorable judge Tamas Jakkel from Hungary who thought so highly of her!
Most successful was our Field Spaniel "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See". Vicky was both days BOB and Club Show Winner 2014. At the Best in Show competition at the Club Show she finally went BIS 3! We have been really happy about this. When does it happen that a Field Spaniel is selected for the Best in Show finals and is even placed!?
07.06.2014
Dummy-Training with both Youngsters Vicky and Ilse. There is some progress in training. Next year I will try to compete with them in their first Dummy-Test.
06.06.2014
Now it is confirmed: Lotta is German Champion (VDH). We are very glad and proud that Lotta is got her fourth title confirmed.
01.06.2014
The start of the Show season couldn't have been better for Team "Belauer See". We showed four Dogs at International Show in Neumünster, Germany.
In a Youth Class with 7 bitches our 9 month old "Ilse vom Belauer See" got "Excellent 4". Really nice - especially as the ring was next to the Agility-Parcours and the showground was a big tent like at the "Octoberfest". When showing the dogs it was really loud as the ground was just like a bumpy dance floor. For a younger dog really difficult.
Her mother "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" won Champion Class with "Excellent 1" and got CAC-VDH.
Jule, "Deb's Cortina", which we haven't shown since two years, has developed into a nice lady. She won Open Class out of five bitches with "Escellent 1" , got CAC-VDH, CAC and CACIB! What a success! It proves that some dogs just need time to develop.
Last but not least óur Field Spaniel "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" got "Excellent 1" CAC-VDH, CAC and CACIB, was best bitch and in the end BOB. She got a great critique from
honorable judge Ricky Lochs-Romans from the Netherlands, you can read it on her page.
17.05.2014
For the first time one girl was shown today from our I-litter. She was shown at the show in Wieselburg, Austria. "Imke vom Belauer See", known as Yola, got from judge Mrs. Maissen-Jarisch "Excellent 2". A really nice start! Congratulations to the proud owners!
10.05.2014
At International Show in Dortmund Lotta "Desperados Charlotta At Belauer See" won today Champion Class with "Excellent 1" and got CAC-VDH, Res. CAC and Res. CACIB. She was second best bitch of all English Springer Spaniels of the Show. Thanks to the honorable judge Mag. Jana Janekova from Slovenia! Lotta has fulfilled the waiting time and got all certificates required for the title "German Champion (VDH)".
09.04.2014
Now it is official, Vicky "Winterbourne Move On To Belauer See" got her third title confirmed and is now German Youth Champion (VDH).
09.03.2014
On the weekend we usually take a longer walk at the "big forest" in our area. The dogs enjoyed it as always. "Lotta" and "Jule" taking their first sun bath of the year. (Photos: Ulf F. Baumann)
04.03.2014
Isn't it beautiful?
01.03.2014
Today we have been again to Dummy-Training. Lotta is getting better and more reliable. Today we practised search in a close distance. A few photos taken by Claudia Bruhn give you a bit of an idea. Thank you, Claudia!
03.01.2014
The new year starts with a little bit of Dummy-Training with our youngster "Ilse vom Belauer See".
02.01.2014
We wish all our friends in Germany and abroad a happy and successful New Year!
Today our "Wild Boar Hunter's Clark" turns already 7 years. How time flies! Happy Birthday, Clarky-Boy!
